We were invited by Allena Gabosch, Executive Director at the Center for Sex-Positive Culture in Seattle, to come and visit their amazing Center and non-profit Foundation. They have grown the Center from the ground up and are celebrating their 10 year anniversary. The Center is about to expand to 10,000 square feet and is a tremendous resource for the the sex-positive community. They have been unifying previously disparate sex-positive sub-cultures for almost a decade and Allena has seen just how powerful it’s been to have a single umbrella that unifies everyone under one roof. They hold community events and classes 7 days a week, host the extremely popular Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, produce retreats and camp-outs, and Allena herself has been featured on abc, msnbc, and in the very popular “America Unzipped.” Next year, she and the CSPC will help host and shape the Sex 2.0 conference. Allena is highly respected and loved by thousands.
According to Allena, the term “Sex-Positive” is:
A celebratory attitude about all kinds of sexual variation among adults, had arrived and was now an ineluctable part of mainstream life in America.
I got the chance to speak with Allena about the Center and the massive change going on with the Modern Social Scene.
